Silver Plated Pedang Sword, Indonesia - 7022

The ‘Pedang’ is an Indonesian short sword, common in Java but can be found also in other Indonesian islands. The blade of this one is 15 inches long, straight back, with 3 inches clipped tip. It is forged from very good pamor steel clearly evident. The hilt and scabbard are worked from chased and embossed brass in an elaborate floral design, highly decorated and plated with silver. Very good condition. Some of the silver plating is worn. Very good item, dated probably to the second half of the 19 C, offered at a very special price.
