Good Jambiya Dagger from Oman - 7955
A typical early 20th C Arab Jambiya dagger. This style of daggers is called Omani, as its originate from Oman. However it is spread as well as other Jambiya’s styles all over the Arabian Peninsula. It has a 7 ½ inches curved and dual edge blade with a pronounced central rib, forged from good steel (not like many new Jambiya’s on the market whose blade are made from two-iron sheet pressed to form and welded together). The hilt is hardwood in a classical “I” shape with a silver front panel and silver fittings. The scabbard is “L” shaped covered with leather densely braided with silver wires in an intricate decorative pattern. The belt attachment is made of complicate arrangements of silver rings and twisted silver wire. This dagger comes with its original belt also braided with silver wires. All scabbard and hilt fittings are silver chased in a typical design. Very good condition.
